★ Amazon Kindle Fire vs. iPad 2

Amazon Kindle Fire vs. iPad 2

Amazon published this Kindle Fire vs. iPad 2 page shortly after its announcement on September 28, 2011. I thought it was just a temporary promo, but it turns out that Amazon is still pushing it heavily.

Marco has put together a dead set brilliant feature-comparison checklist which gives a much truer picture of how the Kindle Fire lines up against the iPad 2.

FWIW I really love my Kindle Keyboard and think that it has the better reading experience when compared to the iPad 2, however for EVERYTHING else the iPad 2 wins hands down. No competition.

★ Scotch Whiskey Review: Laphroaig 10 Year Old

I just got my hands on, read as bought, a bottle of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Scotch Whisky and I figured that it might make a nice first review in the new Scotch Whiskey category on my website.

To say it’s peaty and smokey is an understatement, boy is it smokey! There is also a slight bit of a medicinal smell / taste to it initially, finishing off with a little bit of a hint of an ocean-y, seaweed-y, salt-y taste on the back of the palate.

It’s quite nice indeed. Definitely a good one to keep in the cabinet for random evenings with experienced Scotch Whiskey drinkers.

For the techie types – it’s a 10 year old single malt, from the Islay region of Scotland, weighs in at around 40.0%, and is cork sealed.

Roughly $70.00 a bottle.
