★ Severe Weather Warning, May 24 2011

Here comes fun! And by fun I actually mean me running around the house making sure that there’s nothing likely to get blown around and damage the house, car, us, etc.

Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds for people in the Metropolitan, Illawarra, Hunter and Mid North Coast forecast districts.

Weather Situation
A low pressure system is expected to move along NSW coast today and on Wednesday. The low will bring a possibility of severe wind gusts on the coastal fringe between about Ulladulla and Port Macquarie from early Wednesday.

Damaging winds with peak gusts over 90 km/h are forecast for coastal parts of the Metropolitan, Illawarra, Hunter and south of Mid North Coast forecast districts during Wednesday morning and afternoon.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

  • Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
  • Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
  • Keep clear of fallen power lines.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST Tuesday.
