★ Fire Tornado

Check out this footage of a fire in Hawaii where strong winds turned it into a fire tornado, and no that’s not the working title for a new Van Damme film.

★ Deck in progress

We’ve got a little building happening in our backyard at the moment. We’ve hired a contractor to build a deck off of the back of our house. So far so good, the footings are in, the saddles also, and the main posts are all but done.

Finger crossed, and weather permitting, we should be complete some time late this week or maybe early next week.

I’ll post some proper photos once the deck has been completed and our new furniture and everything else is in place, for now iPhone photos will have to do.

★ Gmail's new Priority Inbox

For those of us who have to deal with chunky inboxes everyday, this could be a dead set time save. If Gmail’s new Priority Inbox works as advertised, I can finally rid myself of the ‘GTD’ type foldering system that I’ve currently got in place.

Check out the following video to see how it’s going to work.

★ I built this, part 1 of …

I’m finally turning into one of those guys who does stuff around the house. It’s taken 30 odd years, but I finally pulled my finger out and started doing things around the house…manly things of course, like building a raised vegetable garden, digging holes, breaking concrete, etc.

Here’s my most recent endeavour, a raised garden bed where we’re going to grow things like Eggplant, Zucchini, Tomatoes, Capsicum, Spring Onions, Basil, Thyme, Mint, and a few other herby bits and pieces.

There’s still one more garden bed to get built, plus I’ve got to sort out the compost bins, yep, our household is getting a little bit greener too. So far so good.

★ New shoes

Boring and random time, I got new shoes today. I grabbed a pair of these grey canvas Peace by Piece shoes, they’re simple and comfy, and only $40. In fact I might buy a couple pairs in the other colours available, black, navy blue, and white.

They also make a desert boot styled shoe. I reckon desert boots will make a come back soon.

★ Christina Hendricks, London Fog shoot

Sometimes Christina Hendricks is just gorgeous, mostly as Joan on Mad Men, other days not so much. Don’t get me wrong, she still looks good all the time, except that time that she lost a load of weight and looked a bit gaunt in the face, yeh I wasn’t a fan of that look. Actually I wasn’t a fan of her on the red carpet at The Emmys today, well mostly it was her dress…what was up with those feathery things?

Anyway, I digress.

Here’s a video of a photo shoot she did recently for London Fog, the video’s a bit janky in spots but damn that lady looks great in a trench coat!
