★ audioBoo – cute name, cool service

Ever wanted to start recording your own podcasts but didn't want to invest in a load of recording and production equipment, don't really have a huge amount of time to sit down and script out an entire 'show', and weren't really sure how to get it listed on iTunes (or other podcast networks)...then audioBoo might just be for you! Check it out....

What is audioBoo?

audioBoo is basically a social network of podcasters, it's kind of an audio version of twitter. Once you have an account, and either an iPhone or one of the other compatible phones, you can start recording and uploading Boos. One your Boo is uploaded it'll appear in the 'Recent Boos' list on the homepage of audioBoo, and yes you're right it's not the prettiest homepage on the planet and the audioBoo team freely admit that;
Welcome to audioboo on the web. We know this site is a bit scrappy but bear with us as we find some time to make it pretty.

There's an app for that!

The iPhone audioBoo application is pretty sweet and simple. Once logged in there's a 'Recent Boos' list where you can pick and choose Boos to listen to, there's a Record screen, and that's about it. When you're recording the interface gives you an idea of the volume level you're speaking at, this is quite handy to see as it'll make it easy for you to keep your volume at a near constant and therefore easier to listen to. When you're ready to upload your newly recorded Boo you're given the opportunity to name your Boo, tag your Boo, and even add an image to your Boo..... *hrmm that was a whole lot of Boo there

Subscribe, download, and embed

Every account on audioBoo has a unique Atom feed which can be subscribed to in iTunes, or your podcatcher of choice, making it simple to download and keep all of your Boos. It's also handy for when you find other people you'd like to subscribe to as audioBoo gives you an 'all in one' podcast feed for the people you follow. If you've got your own blog or website, audioBoo gives you a handy little 'embed' code that so you can add an audio player of each of your Boos to the accompanying blog post (I'm assuming you're going to blog that you just Bood). And what sort of website / social network would it be if there wasn't a way to connect your audioBoo account to your Facebook account..... So yeh, they've already done that and whenever you publish a new Boo it'll be linked to your Facebook wall / updates.

Too Boo or not to Boo

audioBoo is a nice, simple, easy to use, service for those of us who'd like to try our hands at podcasting. It's definitely worth checking out. If you decide to join audioBoo, follow me here >> matpacker [gallery link="file"]

Bit by bit my photography website has begun to take form. I'm using Thesis v1.6b as the framework, and of course I'm tweaking the heck out of it. I'm still not sure this is the final iteration, but it's the direction I'm heading for now. This weekend I'm heading into the studio with an assistant, make up artist, and a model, so sometime next week there will be another update with a load more photos. Mathew Packer Photography

★ Weigh in Week 6

Yeh I know, week 4 and 5 should've come before week 6........but I have excuses, each one better than the last. Anyway, the last couple of weeks have been really busy, as you would expect with a newborn in the house, but I've still been trying to keep things on track. Cath's been really good with organising my lunches and things this week, definitely wouldn't have been a good without her doing that. So anyway, I managed to not put on any weight....yeh I didn't lose any but at least I didn't put any on. BMI 33.43, Weight 91.5kg, Neck 43.5cm, Chest 108cm, Right bicep 35.3cm, Left bicep 33cm, Waist 105.5cm, Hips 102.5cm So measure wise there wasn't a whole lot of change, totally happy with that. And now for the updated chart. Weight Loss Tracker I'm hoping this week I'm a little more organised and can get my butt into gear and get a bit more exercise. Maybe a couple of sessions at the driving range, plus a little Friday afternoon golf might help. Next Saturday I'm playing golf again, so there's a few hours of exercise as well. Till next time......

★ App Review: The Best Camera

Yeh ok so I’m a bit of a Chase Jarvis fanboy. The guy is one of my favourite photographers. Not only is he pretty well the king of lifestyle photography, he’s a complete social media champion and I really think the ‘insider perspective’ he gives all of us into his world is one of the things I credit in my growth as a photographer.
That said, how fricken cool is his new iPhone app / book / social network that just launched today!
Instead of me doing a write up / review……just watch the video and you’ll get the gist of it all.
Got an iPhone? Go download the iPhone app, buy the book, and start uploading photos to the photo community.

★ Joellen (studio session), finally edited

So I finally finished editing the photos from the studio session that Joellen and I had ummmm about 2 months ago. I'm quite happy with the results, particularly considering that it's been a long while since I've done a portrait shoot. Editing wise I went with a bit of a mixed bag, some black and whites, a few really colourful ones, and some straight up contrasty saturated images. [gallery link="file"] Anyway, I'm hoping to get back into the studio to do a few more shoots over the next month or two, so expect some more of these sort of photo galleries.
