★ Hello Wiesbaden

Today I arrived in Germany. Man am I wrecked, I think I managed about 6 hours sleep since I left Newcastle early Saturday morning. Hopefully the belly full of snitzel, and beer, I now have will help me get some sleep.

To try and adjust to the time zone a little better my host here in Germany, Ralf, took me on a tour out into the country side today. I have never seen so many castles in my life. All along the Rhein River there are castles, apparently 51 at last count. So we visited one castle, and at the moment I can’t remember it’s name at Sankt Goar, and I snapped a load of photos from the top.

We also jumped on a ferry to go over the Rhein River to  Sankt Goarshausen and from there we drove up to Loreley, which looks back toward the area where the above castle photos were taken. It was really a lot more picturesque than I thought it would be.

From there we went to Ralf’s town, Idstein, where we got dinner and a couple of drinks. The centre of town is the ‘old town’ where all the buildings are quite old, the roads are cobbled, and it’s pretty well only pedestrian access. It was a very pretty little town, and the beer and food were good so no complaints from me.

And now it’s time for me to go and sleeeeeeep, or at least try to. Got a 9am start tomorrow for the first training session, hopefully I’ll get plenty of sleep as I think I will need it for sure.

Auf Wiedersehen!
