The Photo Cookbook – Tapas

20130401-094436.jpg

If you ever wanted to try your hand at making / cooking tapas, then you really should get yourself a copy of The Photo Cookbook – Tapas. It’s full of simple, easy to follow, directions for a myriad of tapas dishes for both carnivores and vegetarians alike. It’s available on both the iPhone and iPad, for just $4.99.

Mmmm I’m getting hungry just looking at the photos!

Forecast web app

I’m a bit of a weather geek and had been a little bit disappointed that the Dark Sky iPhone app wasn’t available in Australia, well disappointment be gone! The team behind Dark Sky has brought their magic forecasting algorithm to a new shiny web app, Forecast.

The app’s location awareness is pretty spot on, and so is their forecasting (kind of important for a weather app right). You can save your locations too for faster reference when you load / open the app. Go check it out!

Pro Tip: If you load it up on your iDevice you can of course save it as an app, the app icon is quite nifty too.

Out of the Box

Imagine you just bought a toolbox, one that came pre-filled with a selection of instruments you would likely need to get some work done around the house.

I’m sure this is not the first time someone’s done the default reset in order to simplify, but I’m still totally curious. It’s a people watching thing I guess. I’ll be interested to read James’s followup posts.

Solve my email woes!

I’ve been having a few issues with Gmail of late, the iOS app in particular, where it’s not showing my new emails despite sending me notifications that I have new email. It’ll load on say the iPhone, but not the iPad, and vice versa….so right now I’m gagging for a new email client that works well with Google Apps.

Mailbox looks like it might be a solution. Can’t wait to check it out.

Astonishing X-Men

Comics on the new iPad

Jason pretty much sums up the good and the ‘could be better’ of comiXology, and reading comics on the iPad in general.

Moar Better

comiXology may be the best comics app out there, but there’s always room for improvement. Some of the typical interactions I’m used to in other services leave me wanting with Comixology. It has the potential to be even more awesome than it is now, and these are a few of my humble desires from it in the future:

I must confess that I love reading comics on the iPad, I wasn’t much of a comic reader till recently but since the iPad 3 was released, and since I discovered comiXology, I’ve been obsessed. So far I’ve been loving Astonishing X-Men, Usagi Yojimbo, The Mighty Thor, The Sixth Gun, and American Vampire. There’s so many stories and arcs to follow, you can just go crazy, there’s almost infinite possibilities.

If you have any passing interest in comics, and you have an iPad (or even an Android device), then definitely check out comiXology and go read the rest of Jason’s article. Start your own pull list, and get collecting.
